Plaka is a quiet, isolated beach inside the caldera, located below Megalochori village.
The place is rocky and rough but the volcanic rock which surrounds the beach and the views to the caldera are impressive.
In the cliff above the beach you will see the thermal baths of Plaka, where there were spa facilities in the past, which are now deserted.
Access is only possible by boat, or on foot, walking down through a narrow and steep pathway for approximately 30 minutes. The path starts from Megalochori, passes by the church of Panagia tis Plakas (Virgin Mary of Plaka) and leads to the old baths just a few meters above sea level.
