Santorini island has a long history which dates back to Before Christ times. Monuments and remainders of various time periods are spread around the island and are open to the public. The most important archaeological sites are Ancient Akrotiri and Ancient Thira.

- If you have time to visit only one archaeological site, this has to be the Prehistoric Town of Akrotiri.
